Thematic Report: Local, Indigenous and Traditional Knowledge (LTIK) for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Pacific

Source
United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)

UNDRR is supporting the regional review for the Pacific through various thematic studies, including Pacific Disaster Data, Review on Disabilities, Synthesis Paper on Gender in Building Community Resilience and Analysis of Climate and Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure in the Pacific. The present report is on the thematic study of local, indigenous and traditional knowledge (LITK) for disaster risk reduction (DRR) in the Pacific, and will feed into the wider regional Sendai framework Midterm review for the Pacific.

The objectives of this study are to capture the progress and challenges on integrating LITK and practices for DRR in the Pacific since the introduction of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2015; and to make recommendations for future work on how LITK can be used to build back better.
