As part of the global stocktake of progress towards meeting the Sendai Framework’s goals, the Government of Timor-Leste undertook a mid-term review of the country’s DRR achievements. This Timor-Leste Mid-Term Review Voluntary Report was compiled under the leadership of the CPA through a multi-stakeholder review process. Over the past years, Timor-Leste has embraced strategies to mitigate and manage the risks associated with natural hazards. The country adopted the Sendai Framework in 2015 and promotes DRR under the leadership of the newly established CPA. The Government of Timor-Leste has taken steps to strengthen the governance for disaster management and risk reduction.
With seven years left for the implementation of the Framework and the achievement of the SDGs, the country identifies priorities to strengthen institutional capacity to further strengthen the country’ capacity to advance the DRR agenda further. Improving the system and capacity for DRR is an incremental process that could take many years. It requires input from whole-government and all-of-society. In addition to the Government’s own resources, technical and f inancial cooperation from non-government partners are essential in the country.
